GatorCUT Technology: Upping the Speed for Industrial Applications

Portable GatorCUTOne of the key aspects of industrial optimization is the need to cut down time allocated for basic tasks; this can often entail implementing automated systems, optimizing protocols, and hiring more staff. Item identification is one of the many tasks where time can be saved using the right tools; label applicators, automated labeling systems, and RFID labels are just some of the novel products that have been developed over the years to accomplish this. Our patented GatorCUT technology brings this level of innovation to tapes that are still commonly used throughout every industry, from the automotive sector to oil and gas, construction, and agriculture.

What is GatorCUT™?

GatorCUT is a novel technology used to improve our existing durable tapes. Regular tape used for identifying various items, material, equipment, and packages, can often be difficult to cut, requiring scissors, cutting instruments, or even a dedicated dispenser to do so without shredding the tape. This can limit the tape’s usefulness as it may tie it to a specific workstation. In contrast, GatorCUT allows you to cut the tape precisely and quickly with your hands, wherever and whenever you need it. This means that tapes can now become completely portable, as they can easily be taken out and dispensed manually within seconds instead of minutes.

The benefits of easy-to-use tape dispensing

The most apparent benefit of GatorCUT is that it saves time. However, this technology is also adaptable. Currently, it’s available for identifying material exposed to the weather or stored under low temperature conditions, including already frozen surfaces, material exposed to high heat conditions, as well as for delicate surfaces requiring an adhesive-free labeling solution.

  • Low temperature tape: This is IndustriTAG’s brand of all-purpose permanent low temperature tape. It’s waterproof, has a temperature range of -196°C to +110°C, and is made with a strong permanent adhesive, so it won’t crack or peel when stored in low temperature conditions. This durable tape will also withstand extended UV exposure and humid weather.
  • Low temperature tape for frozen surfaces: This low-temperature tape comes with one important added benefit—it can stick to previously frozen surfaces at -80°C, eliminating the need to thaw items prior to labeling or re-labeling. This means that it can be used to quickly and efficiently label cooling tanks as well as those surfaces found in outdoor applications, such as construction sites.
  • Industrial clear static cling tape: This tape provides a means of identifying smooth, untextured surfaces. It employs static-cling to firmly adhere to metal, glass, wood, and plastic surfaces, making it reusable and easy to reposition without ever leaving any residue behind. This tape can be easily dispensed when needed and temporarily affixed to various surfaces; as such, it’s ideal for identifying car windshields, windows, eyeglass lenses, coated surfaces, and other fragile surfaces.

Overall, GatorCUT technology opens up new doors for item identification, making it practical to carry tape and use it to label items the moment it’s needed. Combined with the properties of specialized tapes, it will help ensure accurate and consistent identification, further optimizing workflow and reducing the likelihood of critical, time-consuming errors.
